Josie and Mike are some of the most fun and real people I know, so when they got engaged last october (by Josie finding a golden egg in the chicken coop) I knew it was going to be an awesome event. Shortly after the engagement Josie shared their vision of wedding planning, which if you haven’t seen the Portlandia version then you need to check out THIS clip, as their version wasn’t too far off….which ensured there would be a lot of unique aspects to this wedding. Since we live 7 hours apart and winter encroached upon us, we waited until the night before the wedding to capture a few engagement pictures during their Welcome Party at Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary located north of Rice Lake. As Mike’s family traveld to northern Wisconsin from as far away as New York and Turkey, they decided to host a Welcome Party so family and friends could meet each other before the big day. It was a great event with Josie’s family cooking up one amazing potato bar and her sister making cheesecake deserts followed by outside games, Spotted Cow, and a campfire.

The ring found in the golden egg… luckily Josie saw it before the pitchfork did!
Delicious food and wonderful company at the Welcome dinner
