Josie and Mike decided to have their intimate outdoor DIY barn wedding at Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary, where the night before they hosted a welcome party for their family and friends (check it out here). The day started out with friends creating the floral arrangements and putting finishing touches on the reception area in the barn loft as well as getting the homebrews ready for taping. Josie and Mike then retreated to their private cabins tucked into the woods to get ready for their exchange of vows. After Josie’s cousins did her hair, makeup, and nails she hosted her close friends and relatives for some girl time with champagne before slipping into her beautiful pink tinted dress and beautiful badgley mischka pink shoes. Guests were invited during the ceremony to share a story or wishes with Josie and Mike, which resulted in all of us having tears from both the touching moments and laugher, mostly thanks to Mike’s amazing sister. Throughout their wedding day there were several fun hints at iconic pop culture, such as the Lord of Rings ring and ‘put a bird on it‘ from Portlandia. Outdoor games, bird tattoos, a teepee photo booth, amazing food, homebrew and one heck of a band – 2nd Time Around– rounded out the day.
